SA ISLANDERS 2016 CINDY SI

Cindy Si is a perfect example of a student athlete. Academically ranking in  the Top 1% of her class.

This club season, she has blossomed to a dangerous offensive threat with her explosiveness and pin point accuracy with her jumpshot.

From playing JV for Brandeis HS, to playing Varsity level competition in AAU Club basketball for the SA Islanders. Now that is a huge step forward. But that is just the beginning.
I expect huge things from her when she suits up for Brandeis HS basketball team this coming season.
Her handles, her defense, her tenacity, her basketball IQ all have taken major leaps forward.

And she is not finished yet. If she keeps on attacking her basketball skills like she does her academics, she will keep on blossoming to endless possibilities.
She is long, lanky, fast and explosive. All ingredients and starting points to becoming a Baller!

Great kid and quite possibly the youngest 2016 in San Antonio. That's because age wise, she should be a 2017.  Pretty impressive in my book.

SA ISLANDERS 2016 ERIN WIMBERLEY

Erin Wimberley is on her way back to her old form after coming back from a knee injury. Motivated and determined, she has worked hard to get back on the court. And now that she started playing, she is working twice as hard to be the best player she can be.

You might want to make generalizations that the players that score the most do the most for the team. Erin is the type of player that does so many things for the team that are a real big reason for its overall success.
Sometimes you might take it for granted, but I appreciate everything she brings to the table. When you finish seeing this small clip, you will agree! It's a lot!

SA ISLANDERS 2019 ASHLEY ADASZCZYK

Ashley Adaszczyk has been working hard and practicing with kids normally 3 or 4 years older than her. Her maturity and leadership on the court  is that of a kid in High School. And oh yeah, she has strong fundamentals and high basketball IQ for a Middle Schooler.
She ran the point for the White team playing Varsity and helped out the SA Islanders Black Varsity team when needed. She was needed in a big way at the end of the season.
She filled in admirably and gained a ton of valuable experience along the way.

Here are some highlights the last couple of games of the season.

SA ISLANDERS 2015 HANNAH MURRAY

Hannah Murray is just growing before my eyes. Leaps and Bounds! She is athletic and long which helps her in the defensive end. She has added a beautiful mid-range shot to go with her defensive prowess. I know she is still getting better by the day. She will definitely help some team at the next level.
She is hoping for a good senior season at Warren HS this coming basketball season.

SA ISLANDERS 2017 BRI SOLIZ

Bri Soliz brings to the SA Islanders a solid presence on both ends of the court.  She has a rare combination of power and finesse.  She has tremendous footwork and does a lot of the dirty work inside the paint.
She is ready to make a major impact along side fellow Islander 2017 Jordan Brooks (more on her later) with their team at Lakeview HS this coming basketball season where they started on and off as freshmen.

Anatomy of a SA Islander.

Let me start with Alexia Torres. I will start and end with "Just Work Hard!"

SA ISLANDERS 2016 TARA MOLINA

Tara Molina has been a SA Islanders since Day 1.  She has a knack in creating shots for her teammates as well as for herself. She can hit the long ball or finish around the rim. She handles the ball with a simple elegance and finesse that simply separates her game from others.
She is ready for a big year and also keep an eye on her as the HS Girls Basketball season gets under way in a few months.

SA ISLANDERS 2016 VICTORIA PENA

Some Basketball on the Bayou highlights from 2016 Victoria Pena. This kid played at less than 80% with an aggravating ankle injury that got worse the more she played. You can't tell much with her performance! She is tough and relentless.
Keep an eye for her as HS season Basketball gets under way in the Fall.  Another kid with tremendous upside, still learning and growing!
